Wouldn't that be cholecystitis (and a cholecystectomy), not pancreatitis?


If the stone blocks below the hepatopancreatic ampulla (the ampulla of Vater) then it will be blocking the pancreatic duct as well, leading to a buildup of digestive enzymes inside the pancreas.


As the other commenter said, the gallbladder and the pancreas both share a duct, and if the stone is low enough you get pancreatitis from a gallstone. I was just that lucky.
