Hybrid Work Tightens: 2-3 Days a Week in the Office Has Become the Norm (hiringlab.org)

Hybrid makes no sense. It takes away a major benefit of remote work by forcing everyone to live near an urban center instead of where they want. People can’t opt into being near family or friends or just choosing a different lifestyle (like rural). And for what - certainly no believable productivity benefit. Especially those jobs where you go to an office only to jump on conference calls from the office, when you could do the same at home.

Some people need to be in physical proximity. And sure... not always. And I would be happier about coming into the office if I actually had an office with walls and a door. And many poor managers substitute people coming into the office for knowing how to manage technical projects.

But... for some people in some teams... there's nothing that beats getting people around the same whiteboard.
