No - this is a general statement. People who are saying that everything is about money are revealing they don’t appreciate other motivations.


But how do that relate to their class? The working class desire money just as much as the owning class.


Depending on culture it very much is. Money is a direct signal of status in a way most other things are not as it is correlates to resources which nature selects for.

In the us of a, money is the ultimate status and often used as the measuring stick to the value of ones ideas, personhood, and everything in between.
