A good opportunity to open-source it?


The embrace of Dorico is really interesting; at a guess, that seems to me less like a typical product strategy move and more like an engineering team that really cared about the product domain recognizing retirement needs among their codebase and/or team.


I've been using Finale since 1994, and am sad.

I'm willing to give Dorico a shot, but that's a lot of years of muscle memory to re-train unless it can be configured to use the same keyboard shortcuts.


Busy day in this niche industry!


What else happened?


It's just that there's thousands of Finale users who were caught by surprise here, and they are up in arms.

I work for one of their competitors, Sibelius, so I have to be on top of it.
