Richard often calls sqlite itself “a Tcl extension that escaped into the wild.”

It’s no accident that a lot of sqlite tests are written in Tcl, or that a “weird language like Tcl” has first class sqlite support. In fact, for a while Richard also sat on the Tcl Core Team (TCT), shepherding its development.
