Well, it sounds nice. But I hope this is heartfelt, and not "as the pandemic has slowed, I don't want to be responsible for next year's numbers."

Naive honesty wouldn't take him to where he is now.

35 is young for this kind of role, usually they 'age up' in these kinds of scenarios (i.e. pre-IPO).

... also how does a 35 year old en up on the Board of Cirque Du Soleil?

She is French and she was an executive for 10 years in Facebook. I looked up couple of her interviews on YouTube and she doesn't sound on par with Sheryl Sandberg for example who is a top quality manager in Facebook and in general. But we can not judge people's professional skills if we are not working with them.

She was an Executive for 2 years. 10 years a go she was a Product Marketing Manager.

She's had a huge swath of press over the last few years for not 'apparent' reason, meaning it's likely she has been a 'chosen one' from some inner circles, probably Sandberg herself who's been putting her name in when People, Chatelaine etc. and the ladies magazines come looking for a 'Rising Female Star' to profile.

It's a paradox with these kinds of companies because you don't want fully 'tried and true' you still need the dynamism of startup leaders. But usually going to an IPO they get someone Wall St. will rely upon.

An executive at 25? Something doesn't add up.

Just seems like the normal career ladder bullshit to me.

I hate careers and career ladders too.

Sorry I mixed it up like jollybean said she was an executive for 2 years.

> to take the long-term view, and to never be afraid of giving away their legos.

Is that a common expression, or a typo?

<sarcasm> Common typo. In American English the plural of Lego is commonly written as Legos. When in fact the plural of Lego is Lego. </sarcasm>

Not a typo. 706 matches for 'giving away your legos' and 2620 matches for 'give away your legos' on Google

News as pedestrian as the PR writing style.

I don't think it's a very common expression, but I think I might have heard it before.

Disrupting language.

I started using instacart at the beginning of the pandemic - every experience with it was painful. From the UI to the ordering process and the interaction with the shopper, and the cost.

Amazon Fresh is categorically better and it’s included in prime. I canceled Instacart and don’t see how they can compete.

Edit: I use good eggs too which has been great and has some high quality options. My experience with instacart was negative enough to damage its brand for me - I hated using it.

Same. But for me they're just too expensive. I'm a rather honest guy who appreciates the same.

Instacart is full of deception. You think you pay a delivery fee, a service fee, and a tip. That all seems fair. Until you realize they silently jack the price up of every single item without calling that out. Worse, they don't use discount cards. Kroger, one of the largest in the US, is well known for their cards and 'fake' deep discounts. Many times shoppers would send me a pic for a replacement item showing '12.99' on the label only to bill at double that on the receipt.

I have been using Safeway delivery for some time now. It's much cheaper than Instacart, there's no tip pressure, the delivery people are real Safeway employees, and there's no third party sucking up value. It's so much nicer in every way.

Where Instacart wins I suppose is that it's more than just Safeway, and you can get it very quickly (quickest turnaround for a Safeway delivery is next day). But that's nowhere near enough value to be competitive.

I used Instacart a few times at the beginning of the pandemic as well. I quickly gave up in favor of dedicated delivery services. Now I use Yamimeal and Weee quite a bit.

fresh being "categorically better" must be why they are dominating the grocery delivery industry.... oh wait.

sorry for your bad experience but your anecdote is not substantiated or relevant.

Fresh is cheaper, more accurate stock, doesn’t require interacting with the shopper, has more available delivery times, more vertically integrated, and (subjectively) a less crappy website - easier to do basic things like add old stuff to order without it doubling numbers of things already in cart. Instacart website was also noticeably slow.

This isn’t personal - I just wouldn’t invest in or use instacart again given the alternatives. I think my anecdote is relevant since you work there, customer experience sucked.

I wouldn’t bet against Amazon in this case. A middleman service will always lose out to people who own the full stack.

My hunch is that instacart is being prepared to be sold to FB, hence this move with an FB exec.

The new CEO is a French woman.

Sure, how is this relevant?

Seemed a peculiar choice for an Indian company.

Instacart isn't an Indian company.

What's your point?
