I've been aggressively fighting these things for the last year. I tried to filter as much noise as possible, to make it easier to get away from the computer. No feeds, very few emails, very few notifications, and a lot less participation.

Generally, it went well. However, I still wish I had a way to batch notifications. I don't need instant messages to be truly instant. I don't need emails to arrive more than once every hour.
