I am sorry but non-brahmins typically do not wear the thread. The thread ceremonies will not be held if you are not a brahmin.

I'm a non Brahmin who has had the thread ceremony. I used to wear the thread (I don't anymore because I'm not really religious and its too much of a hassle...)

Yes, they do. Every one of the four castes can wear the thread. Brahmins do not have a choice. But others have a choice joy to wear it.
