Isn't every server meant to have a 1GbE port nowadays? Dont most of the servers have m.2?

And for PCIe slots - aren't those extensible with raisers?

Maybe some of these have SFP+? 10G only interfaces that need a transceiver. That would be a pain in a home setup.


Perhaps. But I haven't actually seen servers with SFP+ 10G on-board. All the servers we buy have a classic 1GbE RJ-45 built-in and we extend them with SFP+ 10G PCIe adapters when needed.


AArch64 servers tend to have 10G (or faster) SFP+ ports rather than 1GbE.
