Among the PC phenomena I’ve witnessed in my life, LEDs on computers and every other digital thing is one of the most annoying.

Haha, I think it can be tastefully done. Of course, the PC shouldn't look like a Unicorn puking rainbows, but I'm a fan of having a glass panel that shows off components with some subtle single / dual color lighting.

So yeah, I made some questionable technical decisions purely for aesthetics but yeah form is kind of important too.

It's a nice bonus if something happens to have it. My AM4 motherboard has an RGB LED header, and the Ryzen 1700's included cooler has an LED ring on it, so it gently illuminates my PC build with my favourite colour.

i have 0 RGB on or in my case.

your comment just made me change my view on RGBs. I.Want.Them.

My next built is going to puke rainbows! its gonna have a builtin display for a unicorn which moves according to the load - walking on <10, running on >60. its gonna be amazing!

Before LEDs remember CCFLs? they were horrid.

It’s truly bizarre. Think a lot of it comes from people being influenced by YouTube , and rgb lights being one of those things that really only exists to appear on video.

To be fair, some of us were sticking case windows and cold cathode lights into our gaming PCs 20 years ago so we could look uber-1337 at LAN parties.

(I am now firmly in the "RGB is dumb" camp like the other grumpy old people. Oh well.)

I think the most annoying part of this fad is that if you want to build a gaming PC it's very hard to find good components (especially cases and motherboards) that _don't_ have LEDs. It wouldn't bother me much if the same products were available with and without all the bling.

The RGB LEDs exist to be customised, so you can turn them off if they annoy you.
