One more reason to switch to Linux.


Most apps you'd care about in those cases would be perfectly buildable via Homebrew.


Note that "buildable" is much more of a hassle than "installable".

There is a reason not everybody is using gentoo.


homebrew removes that hassle. "brew install" doesn't make you download and build everything from source.


At present. The impression I got from the threads above is that will change with this requirement.
