> It’s also pretty insulting to throw the word tweens in there, implying that transgender issues are just a tween phase.

They didn't imply that at all, the problem is that we are performing life changing cosmetic surgery on people not mature enough to consent. The other issue is that it doesn't really treat the disorder, it transforms the body to match the mind, all other psychiatry tries to get the mind to adapt to it's environment, it's a failure of psychiatry.

They did imply it. They said the problem was transgender acceptance. That is not an age qualified statement. The following statement was specific to tweens, which implies the poster views it as a tween originating self image.

Regardless, this feels purposefully naive to me. Gender identity issues could well be biological or mental health related. There are plenty of things for which do cosmetic surgery or otherwise accept as untreatable including sexual orientation. We are comfortable doing liposuction en masse for people who are just fat.

Maybe there is an argument that on average young transgender people would be better off waiting a few years. That has nothing to do with the thesis of transgender acceptance being a problem. Nor does your opinion trump another individuals ability to offer their own consent. I will, without any evidence, confidently say that in either case, telling a young person that their feelings of gender dysphoria are irrelevant until they’re an adult is definitely the wrong way to do this. Lack of hormones != lack of transgender acceptance
