300x if it is true you will be just busy dealing with you customers rather than pitching here. Also since it is a vibe coded project, if you are really that good , you should even need to related yourself with Postgres. Who will want related itself to something that is 300x slower than itself?
You use stability of PostgreSQL to open a pitch. Also most people use PostgreSQL because someone out there was a fan, proponent and champion of Postgres. Otherwise they'd be on MySQL or Oracle.
And your sales folks would call and say: "No need to change anything, we still run PostgreSQL, and ours is just called pgrust, but it's N times as fast".
Coming from a country where almost everybody rides a bike. I would say US is the worst place to ride a bike. Also the utilization is inherently low due the city layout and weather is bad in winter in most US cities. It would be much more efficient to use the space for bike lanes for better pubic transport.
This is not really true considering Apple and nvidia are two most successful hardware companies, and they are notoriously closed. Not to mention microsoft, oracle they are all pretty closed.
I've sort of thought this too. Rust adoption feels a lot like Haskell to me in that it's centered around ideological things that don't really improve the final product and arguably slow development. If your goal is to write a bunch of LLM code there are better languages than rust, and rust development is often regarded as too annoy for anyone not enthusiastic about the ideological improvements.
There are cool ideas in the language but I don't see it enduring over time.
I like Rust and I'm an advocate of Rust, but this really isn't true (at least it hasn't been and I doubt much has significantly changed).
The syntax complexity and the ecosystem haven't been ideal for LLM development. And there have been publications on findings of LLM efficacy with different languages. Rust is most often towards the lower end of efficiency/correctness when benchmarked.
This paper uses models that are over a year old at this point. Many people didn't believe that LLMs were worth using for programming until 6 months after that, and now again this week we've had another huge leap in abilities.
This is beyond the other issues with the methodology of this study. For example, their Rust code was created by asking Deepseek to port their C++ code, not having it try and write Rust itself.
From what I am seeing in big corp, with low code/no code tooling, coupled with agentic orchestration, for many scenarios the actual programming language will become irrelevant.
Sure the programming platform still needs to be programming in something, but everything else on top will migrate to such tools.
This might not come to all corners of programming, but in the domain of orchestrating SaaS products, with MCP tools replacing classical microservices, it is getting there already in 2026.
The star link network is actually remarkably cost effective in getting internet access to rural areas. There's a reason that these areas still have poor connectivity: it's just not cost effective for anyone to build land based infrastructure there.
SpaceX spend a few billions on StarLink. But if you look at how much network operators have spent over the years on cables, base stations, etc. it's not all that much for a network that offers high bandwidth access all over the planet.
Adding 100K more satellites is going to make Star Link a direct competitor to many of these operators.
It occurred to me after reading the original story that if space based internet gets fast enough, we'll stop using any other kind for most purposes. That means, as a platform, SpaceX could carry a significant amount of the entire world's internet traffic. No wonder Elon is interested.
It has everything to do with the lack of competition. US tax payers paid $4 billion to AT&T in 2004 for fiber to -every- home. And that was never delivered, yet they keep getting more money. This is regulatory capture.

Indonesia has less people, ~280 vs ~340 million for the US.

Technically true, but as I said in my comment I'm talking about remote/small islands, closer to Flores/Papua to the east, not Jawa where the overwhelming majority (as in, literally more than half the country) of the population lives. Jawa alone has ~145 million people, Sumatra around 60 and Sulawesi around 20, the rest are spread out all over the country and the densities are much smaller, not to mention that those smaller regions have much fewer resources available to them to begin with.

The comment I was replying to was talking about companies/the gov't being reluctant to erect cell towers though? So I don't see the relevancy here, I was saying that even tiny, sparsely populated islands in some of the poorest regions of Indonesia have cell tower coverage, and with those towers, decent internet.

Arguably it's infinitely easier to erect infrastructure when you're not an archipelago. Plus, the US is the richest country on earth, I'm sure you guys can figure out how to string along fiber even in the most rural of areas, you've somehow managed to do it across the atlantic ocean after all.
But the long tail isn't served. The reality of your statement turns out to be that, if there aren't enough customers to justify an expensive tower or wire, no service will be provided at all.
