I live just a bit outside of pittsburgh, but I'm not in town often enough to need an uber. I'm still probably going to head down and try to get picked up by one, though.

I remember requesting a stripe reader when I first saw something about them just spitting out the info, and by the time I got it they were already encrypted.

That doesn't explain why it's zeroed everywhere except for a few spots, though.

Recycled mag stripe that was poorly bulk erased?

It's definitely re-encoded. There are words "FLEA" and "TICK" encoded on the cards for respective insects. My bet is on recycling mag cards by cleaning them up, cutting in three and reencoding.

I'm just too lazy to put in the code from my phone.

Systemd is great. I've used sockets for ssh, I use the timers instead of cron, everything goes smoothly and works really well.

I don't get the hate, I love it.

Spend the $35 and check out a chromecast. If I'm remembering properly, a friend with comcast had no issues shooting HBO go over to it.

Ah good advice, I will check it out.

I know you're just teasing, but I've got a machine with an arch install from over two years ago that's still running great. Just did an -Syyu to get bash updated.

The trick is to keep up with the updates, do pacman -Syu every two weeks or so, and not wait months.

Tourists probably don't.

There are plenty of web IRC clients.

but any good one?

I've used mtpaint before, it works well for what it's for.
