The article is satire…

Thanks, it was not obvious to me at all. The only indicator I could even find after the fact was the word "humor" in tiny letters.

The author's name and the 1st person voice of the article's name do not match.

You had to use an LLM to figure out an article was extremely obvious satire… society is doomed.

Reading comprehension isn’t something readers of this site are great at.

To be fair, it's quite difficult to find someone willing to compensate you for reading.

There’s none of those details because it’s an AI written article. It doesn’t even talk about the stuff it says it’s going to in the very first paragraph.

That's a really great point, and demonstrates a deep understanding of how AI is changing the landscape of writing online!

Did I just read an HN comment written by an AI? Looks sycophantic enough

I believe that is "The Joke"

You are absolutely right! It's not just that you spotted it, it's how you pointed it out that make your comment upvote worthy

changing the landscape of writi' you mean fucking shit up to the point of no return?

I thought the same thing. Maybe they can restrict it so that you can’t run the same text through multiple times with only one word differences. At least from an IP perspective that would start to get really expensive to rotate through IPs to get around a block like that.

This logic makes no sense. If 90% of a software engineers job is not coding, then the valuable part of their job isn’t coding. It’s the other things. Else junior devs or interns would be doing all that work.

So no, they aren’t interchangeable with the office receptionist, else the office receptionist would already be doing that job.

I feel like this story just supports the claim that coding isn’t the hard part. Collecting those requirements is harder.

Please do provide your sources on the golf course stat you quoted.

Supposedly, yes, but other studies have shown that teflon pans continue to off gas after construction for a long time so it’s not just PTFE you have to worry about, but PFOA as well. And in addition, purchasing Teflon pans increases the amount of these chemicals making it into the soil and water streams so it doesn’t really matter how inert they are when they make it into your food, since you’re consuming them other ways and also destroying the environment at the same time!

Wild to vibe code something in a week then charge $50/month for it. I understand servers cost money but lol there’s no way the costs are that high. Also insane the amount of code generated here.

Why not charge $50/month for it? So little effort has been put into the endeavor that it failing to attract a single user wouldn't be heartbreaking

The part that is being charged for isn't the coding, but the operating. How little should someone charge to be on pagerduty 24/7?

That's like asking why the first bag of goldfish shouldn't cover the cost of running the factory. How much support does an account need that it's expected to cost $50/m at volume to service the interactions?

Also I couldn't find anything saying what "priority support" actually involves. The terms have a generic intent to reply in 2 business days note, but nothing about what kind of coverage the different tiers get or guarantee someone is actually going to respond to the pager 24/7 if something wonky happens in the cloud.

They have internal tracker blocking. Also, using brave and caring about privacy is rich.
