I feel the same way, the odds are part of the story. The UFC has removed them now, I guess as part of the Paramount deal. This actually makes the events less interesting.

By the way, the UFC chews through athletes so fast (part of their somewhat exploitative business model), it's no wonder it's hard to keep up with the latest names.

Saying it seems to have become a taboo, probably because of the existential horror of it possibly being true.

Is there an alternative?

Say the truth; take the downvotes.

But I would say that the voting that matters most is voting in primaries. Get rid of the ideologues and zealots on both sides; get some people who can think rather than just yell.

Agree. Voting doesn't just mean voting in regular elections for legislators and executives. Vote in every election you are eligible for.

Suno also runs on WASM. Pretty good showcases, both, imho.

> the students of Paris threatened a general strike

Paris in 1200 was at least somewhat recognizable.

It's because Claude is so scary good that unleashing it would destroy the world.

They're very high value by weight, very fungible, and there is much less regulation about carrying them across international borders.

Moving a six-figure Audemars Piguet or Patek Philippe watch through an airport would be much easier than the equivalent in gold or cash, even at 50% value. A watch roll with four watches in it could be the same value as 4-5 lbs of gold. If you needed something that you could cash in anywhere on the planet fairly quickly, gold would be the best option. But if you wanted max value, minimal scrutiny and had time at the other end to set up legit buyer, extremely high-end watches would be a pretty optimal option.

I always wondered about this. Who races their cars around like a madman on public roads? Very few I would imagine (and hope), and even fewer take their car to a track. For a Ferrari, possibly a bit more (still probably 99% of the time they are on public roads). But every car review discusses these things at length, as if normal people race around the countryside or mountain roads, putting the cornering and stiffness of their Toyotas and Fords to the test.

Driving a well handling car is noticeable at any speed, any time you are going around a curve, and sometimes even in a straight line.

The first time I drove a 1st gen NSX, I said you could put a dime on the highway in my lane and I could barely pass it with one wheel to the left or right at highway speeds with eases. There is a lot of precision in a good sports car’s handling.

you don't have to drive at 100% to appreciate the driving dynamics. Light and nimble cars feel amazing even at speed limit, e.g 80 km/h on twisty country roads.

> Claude is a phd level mathematician

... that can't even count.

For the health benefits, without some of the downsides, I believe it is preferable to drink coffee when you are not tired. This way you don't get a crash later, because there is no adenosine build-up (the 'tiredness' signaling molecule that caffeine blocks). I believe this also helps to prevent addiction, because there is also no up-regulation of adenosine receptors.

This works great if you drink coffee for the taste, rather than as a way to stay awake (which works in a pinch but is counter-productive over the long term).

I generally always sleep well, but enjoy a nice big cup of coffee in the morning. If I'm really sleep deprived, I switch to black tea. Seems odd because you'd think less caffeine would be worse, but the tea is easier on the stomach and somehow "evens out" the sleep deprivation better.
