Any multiregion deployment requires DynamoDB. Shame this solution is specific to AWS.

yeah, that's actually crazy.

I don't know a single AAA (or even AA) studio that hosts Perforce in Cloud at all.

Perforce usually starts out life in a gamedev studio as running on "a spare desktop" which then eventually gets promoted to a real server in a closet.

The most important thing for Perforce is disk, memory and above all: bandwidth (of those things and the network too!); it's also quite latency sensitive since all operations touch the server. So running it far away is never a good idea.

There was some complicated perforce architecture inside Ubisoft to account for this: AAA tends to involve a lot of co-dev studios, so the lead studio would get the commit server and others might get replicas (and you could feel to pain)- but all the perforce instances were actually on the same machines and would replicate to one-another anyway: each project was given a port for the perforce fleet. Really bizarre.

but, that's besides the point. Even the tiny studios run their own locally hosted VCS machines.

Night visón comment is 100% spot on. Most haven’t even experienced it. Here’s a trick, when you go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, keep one eye closed the whole time if there are lights. When back in bed open that eye. That’s night vision.

If you enjoyed programming prior to LLM’s, like it was actually a fun thing for you to do, why would you use an LLM? You wouldn’t, it’s depressing.

Similar to an artist who enjoys drawing or painting, would they use an LLM? No, because they like doing that craft.

Would a programmer who loves programming use it to create marketing materials? Absolutely.

Thank you so so much!

I cant stand Gimp UI, so not intuitive. And over 25 years of Photoshop use has me locked into a way that image editing should work. This is fantastic and timely.

After 25 years of Photoshop, is it really intuition, or is it just habit?

Habit, shortcut memory and more. But, it’s not 100% that, gimp over complicates itself.

These new steam sites are non functional in Firefox iPhone.

The point that is being made is that you do new things you haven’t done before. Explore!

For example, If you are a gym rat in the morning you can still do that yourself without the other person and then later in the day do the new things you never done before. The other person benefits as well. You don’t always have to be glued to the hip of the other.

So you argue that you should both enjoy exploring new things together in common.

No one is arguing that you should spend every minute with your partner, but if you want to spend time together, you should have an activity that you both enjoy (which might be exploring new things!), otherwise the relationship will be hard.

on the contrary, most relationships got started only because both partners enjoy exploring each other’s bodies. any other activities they might have in common is some afterthought that is tacked on after the relationship acquired a stable footing. i still don’t have any activity in common with my wife, and we’ve spent 2 decades & change…

What are your differentiators and what are commodities that can be better served by better SaaS alternatives? Whatever you do invest in the differentiators and manage risk (secure and compliant solutions).

It’s more like a bagel, with everything.

When the bagel began it had everything all at once in one place.

Why 8hr? For the entire day eat 5 times and 200 plus grams is very doable. I only have one scoop of whey, and sometimes a bar, but everything else is lean Protein or carbs and fat that also have protein (oats, pb, yogurt)

Intermittent fasting. I don't know if there are any real documented benefits but anecdotally fasting is pretty nice. I often feel very energized and clear headed while fasting.

Your plate should be full of food from the outside edges of the grocery store. If it’s primarily full of food from the isles then you are eating wrong. There are exceptions (rice, oats etc) that are in the isles.
