I'm still nostalgic for the times when I had to enter the bootloader using the keys on front panel of the PDP-11 to then loaded the OS from paper tape. (not to mention multi pass compilers using paper tape between the phases...)

Who can forget the CEO Francis J. Sellinger and his 'Taste My Schlitz' commercials https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1NPxny7no4c

Well, by that time German immigration to the midwest was long enough ago that nobody could still understand it, I guess.

Where will all those Meta Avatars go? Is there a retirement home in the Metaverse?

Where will they put all those legs?

The app will still exist, but only on mobile (which is absolutely inexplicable).

I have fond memories from my Acorn days of staying in the 'typewriter' hotel on visits to Ivrea - it became derelict, but perhaps it has been revived...

At least I will be able to visit the exhibition and count them myself: https://allthatsinteresting.com/bayeux-tapestry-penises

The tapestry was made by nuns. I'm not sure what to make of it. May be it was more common occurrence so to speak - because men were basically wearing dresses too, and short ones at that, and even codpieces would appear only centuries later.

No fun in Victorian times though:

"Interestingly, many of the penises depicted in the original tapestry were not transferred over to the Victorian recreation, as the Leek Embroidery Society, which made the replica, was given censored etchings, engravings, and photos to work from."

> The tapestry was made by nuns.

I do not think that is correct. We do not actually know who hade it.

The alleged missed penis was spotted by a historian with the surname Monk though :)

> May be it was more common occurrence so to speak - because men were basically wearing dresses too, and short ones at that

Very likely. They were not that hung up about nudity and accidental exposure.

My mind wandered to these more interesting "undercuts" https://uk.pinterest.com/ideas/lesbian-undercut-designs/9549...

lmfao so good

I always preferred the thinking behind the 'Conundrum' used in Operation Pluto. No big bangs but excellent logistics - see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Pluto
