The biggest advantage of centralization is the ability to delete something from the normie web and have it deleted.

Granted, nowadays you have things like the internet archive, but I don't see normal people going along with IPFS for dynamic content like social media as long as you cannot delete things.

Yeah, one of the problems with content-addressable systems like IPFS is that they don't support the "right to be forgotten". And I've heard a lot of big supporters of content-addressable systems arguing that's a good thing, because links never break. But I don't like a world where I can't take down my own blog post[0], only unlink it from my home page.

[0]: Yes, I'm aware anyone can host a copy of my deleted page. But it will be served on a different URL, and it takes extra work to do, unlike IPFS or similar.

Same thing happened to me last year. I got very hyped up on the switch. But then it turned into hot garbage.

Tried to get support on the firefox subreddit and they told me I shouldn't be using Firefox Beta if I'm not "technically inclined". Okay, so I switched to the normal release and it was too slow for me to even bother. Back to Google...

I'm wondering if their new quantum engine fixes issues. Are you on that newest version?

For this reason, I'd like to see the secure-scuttlebutt protocol catch on.

Right now, the patchwork app[1] is really fun to play with, but still a toy, in my mind.

I think it's actually better than Michel Thomas, but you're right that it's the same system.

Fun fact, this system was first pioneered not by Michel Thomas, but rather by Margarita Madrigal. She has a book called the Magic Key to Spanish. You can also find her Magic Key to French and German online since those are out of print.

I've been supporting Language Transfer for years. I believe that the program suffers a bit when it branches out into languages with grammatical case more complex than English.

But the courses are all free of charge. Please recommend them to friends or family to spread the word! I can especially endorse the Spanish course.
