I feel there’s a lot of marketing and pure bullshit around LLMs configuration and conventions.

Law of diminishing returns applies here perfectly - you can learn prompting in 2 hours and get 400% performance boost or spend weeks on subagents and skills and Opus and st best it’s another 50% boost but not really - in my case in a good day Sonnet is a genius and on a bad one Opus is an moron. One day the same query consumes 6k tokens, the next 700k.

They want to get you hooked and need to show investors they’re super busy but in fact it’s mostly smoke and mirrors. And prompting, once you learn to give proper context, is far from rocket science.

True, people praise Threads like they forgot who’s behind it.

That aside - never heard of xcancel and it seems great!!!

(I typed out a reply to the above but the gp got flagged into oblivion before I hit submit so I've copy pasted it into the only non-reactionary descendant thread for pastry posterity)

This.

I might reword your statement to "musk isn't notably worse than...", & I will say twitter has significantly declined in many ways since he took over - both the software quality (many things no longer work - especially e.g. search - & people just frustratingly accept it because broken window theory I guess) & also many of the new features being objectively horrific (like Grok generating CPM on demand without ramifications).

However at its core Twitter is still the same Twitter it always was in terms of the toxic but politically engaged & zeitgeist-relevent live community discussion that takes place there. Reddit may rival it within some narrow selective niches but there's nothing else giving us what Twitter is giving us in terms of being connected to what is happening in international political culture. On both sides of the spectrum: conservative discourse is a lot more broad & active on Twitter than on Truth Social or similar, & outside of weird insular tankie Discord or Matrix servers, Twitter is also where it's at for leftist discourse; Bsky & Mastodon are both deserts.

Is it only me or „Apply” barely works lately? The

What "Apply" are you referring to?

I don’t drink, I never smoked, I eat clean, I run, I swim, I go to the gym. But I’m also at my desk for 13 hours a day on average and I think it will kill me one day. Trying to stand as much as possible but it’s not always possible,

Loved that story!

Im sure they pretended they did not.

Now they can’t pretend anymore.

Although keeping deleted chats is evil.

Great, another phone for giants. I’ll keep replacing battery in my 13 Mini, hoping for the best…

I battled PF for ages, tried literally everything, and when nothing worked, my feet were in pain I decided to do the dumbest thing in the world and try to only thing I was told I shouldn’t do - run.

I picked a day when my plantar fascia was not too painful and did the first training from c25k plan (roughly 8 minutes of jogging if I remember correctly).

It actually helped me. Don’t try it at home, I think I got lucky because my PF was really not a PF anymore. But I would never found out if I did not run that day. I’ve been running daily ever since, no issues whatsoever.

I essentially had to relearn to walk to clear mine up. Rolling your ankles makes it much worse, but the entire leg is involved in that “decision” and it starts from the gluteus minimus muscles and builds down.

Went from pain after more than 2km total per day to walking a half marathon just over three hours. And then my knees decided they didn’t like that at all and have not yet forgiven me.

Interesting. For me PF gets worse when I walk more. Even with special soles. Still trying to figure out what works.

Constantly stretching the heel in two ways works well for me, both to cute it and prevent it in the future.

The first is hanging your heels off a step and letting them stretch down, both with straight legs and bent knees (one foot at a time).

The second is putting your heel as close to a wall as possible, with toes on the wall.

Both work better with sneakers on.

Thanks I’ll try that!

Stretching and rolling with a small foam roll helps me as well.

Shoes with a wider toe box. Take your uncomfortable shoes to a reuse/charity drop off and never look back.

Every time I wore shoes that were too narrow my problems multiplied. Reworking the laces helped a bit but it was not enough and I had to switch brands.

Yeah, made the same experience.

But it’s more than wide boxes. For example I had some nice big New Balance and they were horrible. I think mainly because of the cushions. ASICS work best for me.

Merrell sells their insoles separately from the shoes, and a hell of a lot cheaper than the various aftermarket ones. I ditch the factory insoles first thing.

I wonder how it would go without shoes. It's an enjoyable change from wrapping your feet up all the time anyway :)

Do not check out Kanye West on x unless you want to see what no censorship means (spoiler alert: a guy with 33m followers posting porn and glorifying nazism).

As of a little while ago, he’s gone from X

Given that Musk is "White House Tech Support" can he actually ban him? Doesn't Ye(Kanye) have a first amendment right to be on twitter, since twitter is now run by a "government" official?

I hear he deleted his account rather than being banned.

"first amendment right to be on twitter" I would love to see that litigation. Especially when he's posting porn (generally allowed on Twitter even in the before times!) at the same time as there's a bipartisan anti-porn internet porn censorship bill being proposed.

There is no first amendment right to be on Twitter (or any other privately owned service). That said, Musk doesn't actually care about free speech in general. He cares about his own free speech and the speech of those that agree with him.

> There is no first amendment right to be on Twitter (or any other privately owned service).

I agree with you on the "any other privately owned service". But since Musk is now a government official the head of "DOGE" and controls and might do some of his official communications through Twitter. Twitter might no longer fall into the privately owned service category any more.

Same goes for Truth Social. Since the president "owns it", it might not be "privately owned" anymore. At least as far as the first amendment might be concerned.

In general government officials can't block you from social media if their accounts are used in an official government capacity. It might follow that since now the government officials are running the social media that they are using in an official government capacity they must not be able to ban you from the entire platforms.

A case about truth social* went to court but was thrown out because when it reached the supreme court Trump was no longer president and the whole thing was moot. But now he is president again.

*correction: it was about him blocking people on his twitter account.

As much as I hate Twitter I was unable to read this @ Bluesky at my iPhone 13 Mini because left/right arrows covered words, this is a mobile design straight from the mid 00s. So bad.
