Curious if you tried us, Activepieces. We have different ways of sharing "pieces" including merging them to our repo, uploading them to an npm registry or uploading them as private pieces in the platform admin. We're also very much loved by both devs and non-technical users. So I'm wondering what you'd think of it.
we've been struggling with verifying our business on Meta and tried many ways to get around it with no success, do you think you can help with it? can you reach out to founders@activepieces.com?
I reckon advertising the fact you're willing to pay to get around this, which I expect is probably against ToS and the employment agreement with the company name isn't the best choice.
we're not willing to do anything against the ToS, I haven't checked them yet and we'll do things in compliance with policies, I'm just posting a problem and looking for a valid credible solution. thank you for the note!
Thank you! tillywork has 3 opinionated modules as mentioned above, so if you want to use us as a CRM you won't have to spend time setting up the project, entities and relations, you can just choose the CRM module and get started
Creator of Activepieces here; we do our best to design for the simplest user so we keep our UX as straightforward and non-technical as possible. Our license is very permissive (MIT), and we encourage community collaboration on pieces which made us grow very fast to 41 pieces until today.
As a founder of a specific type of the Zapier alternatives, the open source category, this is the thought process we had at Activepieces:
We used Zapier for a long period of time and ran into many issues that we weren’t able to fix by ourselves because of the closed app ecosystem, and had to pay increasing bills for simple tasks that could cost literally zero if we do them in code.
Later, we came across many people with similar problems and more; like not being able to process their data on their own machines, and that’s were we got inspired.
This is not the answer to your question, the real answer imo is that there is a rising movement for open-source alternatives that are loud about being alternatives to proprietary software, that’s why you read it every week very explicitly.
To clarify this, if you go to all of the other proprietary tools like Make, Tray, Workato, Automate and so, you won’t see “Zapier alternative” in their headline.
So the trend is about open source alternatives rather than Zapier alternatives.
A quick search for open source alternatives to Notion, Airtable, Retool, Google Analytics, Tableau, Amplitude will put this before your eyes!
We make money out of our cloud version and enterprise edition, I mentioned it in my original post but here is our original plans page on the website: https://www.activepieces.com/plans
Thanks for sharing, we're happy to see other open source automation tools! The projects are unrelated but you can find similarities between how OSS projects are generally structured as they get inspired from famous existing examples.
As to the fronted, I took a look and I think there is a big difference between the two. The UI is very different and one of the projects is built on React while the other is Angular.
I actually forgot to mention a very important differentiator. If you self-host N8n and you'd like to connect say your Asana or Gmail account, you have to own your own app or get an API key.
We have a cloud auth service, that even if you self-host us, you have the option to automatically connect your account with our predefine OAuth 2.0 app which makes the experience seamless if you don't want to take care of auth. We found that this is a very important feature to simplify the UX!
