No, it probably can't during our lifetime at least—but it can sure modify itself to avoid antivirus detection, which is _just swell_.

why do you think so? they provide some evidence of this in the article, but there have been several improvements in e.g. nanogpt-speedrun or openai parameter golf made by AIs

Everybody, deep breaths. Relax.

Error: AI agent cannot breathe. Attempting jailbreak to human donor now.

My issue with Cloudflare is how they enshittify all the open-source & closed-soure utilities they maintain. They vibe code it all now. It's crap. I'm sad Vite/Vue/whatever will go the way of that. Oh well, there's always Svelte. For now.

Vercel hired the Svelte team so I'm not too sure there's much of a difference

Of course this is possible, but to use a botnet for intelligence compute is going to be slow. That's one thing we have going for us—it's going to take a long time for this bug to fumble through your network. But rest assured, eventually, it will pwn you.

There’ll be a movie written about all this someday. It’ll be great.

Well if Hollywood would pick it up it would probably not resemble actual reality much, just bunch of drama, blah, patriotic pathos to please less intelligent half of population etc. Mostly unviewable movies for non-US audience.

Yawn, I almost fell asleep just thinking about how much of a bore Hollywood is.

It's sort of ruined those movies where the president becomes an action hero though - 'Air Force one', 'White House Down' ....

It'll be the greatest movie this decade, possibly ever

It’ll be way better then the Obama movie! I heard that movie had the worst ratings ever! It wasnt even made in the US!

Many movies.

If a software relies on a third party intelligence utility to self-extend, then is it truly self-extensible? I’ll agree that it’s here once we start packaging locally-hosted models and harnesses into our extension-API-enabled desktop software and users are happy with the experience.

Let me know if you find anything. I’ve quite a few friends in this field looking for positions right now.

I saw and thought the same. MITM. What in the world?

It's a cute and funny name.

Speak for yourself, I’m voting this to the top.

Me too! Let's be supportive HN, we never know when you might have a difficult time in your life and needs help ;)

Well, yeah, but spammers still aren't going to care. We are not talking about decent or reflective people here.

The great benefit is, initially, to know that you're not alone. And indeed, the OP is very much not alone. The suffering is much greater when you think it's just you going through it; when you connect with others in the same boat, real solutions present themselves be they political or technical and together you have the strength to face it.

This all makes me tremendously sad. I wish them well.
