This guy is overreacting. He didn't fail that badly, he managed to create something that sold hundreds of copies. He said his experience was "soul crushing" and that being an indie dev is some hopeless thing now, yet you got a decent outcome for only a few months work and only a few thousand dollars spent. Just keep hammering out small games, only try to add something slightly unique to each one, nothing complicated, but enough that it would catch the attention of simple minded people enough that they would spend a few dollars for a novelty approach. People bashing the pixel art angle are very very stupid. People LOVE that stuff. The people who post here are generally smart and have high level tastes, which isn't your audience, and it doesn't need to be. You aren't gunning for critic approval or the next hot thing. You must realize that there are millions of people with questionable taste that want to be given the same tropes over and over again. You just need a slightly more novelty approach. You have a good thing going here, with a little tweaking you likely can make enough to survive full time in your country. Get a job for a while and figure out how you can bang out more of these types of games which take a few months to develop. Its probably good to ignore most of the negative advice you are getting here as well. Do not fall into feelings of hopelessness when you almost fulfilled your goal. You will get better which each successive project.

Computers are about control and wanting to return to the old days of aiding the power user has nothing to do with nostalgia.

I agree with this guy that having to use a mouse is often a chore and inefficient. Google search used to have a feature where you could hit tab after a search and it would auto select the results in order, but that seems to be gone. We need more features like that. Keyboard control supremacy will come back, it is inevitable.

The futurism this guy pushes seems like trolling. He is a really smart engineer and has to know what he says is hugely exaggerated. He is just making stuff up.

It makes sense that he would shill for 'smart' cities because that implies expanding the 24/7 surveillance state.

Has anyone ever actually been bothered by having an audio jack? Having to plug in an adapter is not futuristic, its annoying.

Well, for some reason the ports on my phones would always kind of stop working at some point unless I held the headphone jack in at just the right angle. It wasn't the headphones because they would work fine on other devices.

> Well, for some reason the ports on my phones would always kind of stop working at some point

Lint. Headphone jacks and lightning ports on every iPhone I've ever owned would always stop working properly after 6 months to a year of being carried around in my pocket. (Sort of) easily fixed with a paperclip to pick the lint out of the port, of course, but annoying and the headphone jack was harder to clean than the lighting/dock connecter port.

These losers that lost the battle of ideas really want to push a message that anything that goes against their narrative and interests automatically implies evil, criminality and debauchery. Nobody cares if people in Russia did things to influence US culture. People from different countries can speak to one another and exchange ideas. The only people who oppose this are authoritarians that want to shut down the discourse. All sides push propaganda, who cares if it comes from Russia? Why specifically is it "sabotage" and "meddling" when it comes from Russia? We are talking about internet ads that push a certain kind of ideology, not criminal acts. Hilary Clinton lost because she ran one of the most embarrassingly awful and out of touch election campaigns of all time. Even if Russia did push lies and manipulations, if it resulted in denying that terrible cow the presidency then ultimately it is still a good thing. The US should be easing sanctions on them because of this, not constantly berating them in the media.

Any person or group that manages to avoid paying taxes should be celebrated. The solution to this "problem" should not be that the wealthy pay more taxes, but that nobody should have to pay taxes since it is blatant theft that funds incompetent and evil people. Nothing that the government does is good. All money that goes to the government is either wasted or spent in ways that make society objectively worse. All functions of government can be replaced and improved by a free market system.

Is this satire?

Whether or not this specific example is, I know people who legitimately believe this.

There should be a huge backlash because of this. Make sure all people involved are fired and have no ability to govern anything public ever again.

Mobile is not a major threat to desktops, they serve different purposes. People who have desktop PCs aren't getting rid of them because they bought a phone or tablet. Even though Microsoft has questionable practices they still have the best desktop OS. This is clickbait trash journalism.
