I'm curious why you think a disclaimer about the accuracy of predicting the future is irrelevant to a timeline of predictions about the far future. Indeterminacy and free will can absolutely affect most of the predictions listed on this timeline.
The plastic structure could easily give problems at extreme environmental temperatures due to thermal expansion. Saw this recently at a local parking lot, laid by non-professionals.
Mass surveillance based on social media is prohibited in The Netherlands and presumably other European countries. However, running specific profiles on police owned ANPR camera's could be declared a proportional breach of privacy and thus legal.
This is really worth a read. Although the origin is an airblast, ground structures and soil is evaporated too into an inhomogeneous plasma. The relative fast cooling adds to the crystal formation.
Intriguing and nice writeup. This however tries to encode all the hidden painter's knowledge. Would it be easier to generate realistic images from paintings and use these pairs to finetune an image generation model?
You can already use genAI to do similar things. The whole point, however, was to see what I could do using traditional techniques. The other benefit is that it's something you can run locally without needing a lot of resources, and have full control over the shape of the output. You can also combine this with generative models, and have a model generate a picture, then have this repaint it. Ultimately the point was to have some fun and play around with combining these techniques.
