I don't mind AI, but one of the issues that I have noticed when using it, is that I can't ask you questions about how you built the project and how you overcame difficulties and much more importantly what you've learned from it so that those that follow can stand on the shoulders of giants.

I feel that actual 'understanding' is still incredibly important and it'll probably always be important. I'm talking about people actually understanding what's happening and why it's happening.

The main difference I've noticed when I built stuff with AI and without it, is that without it I understood and knew the code much more intimately, as the program was running, I could approximate with a fairly good degree of precision where in the code the program was at a given time - human based debugging.

When I'm using AI to build stuff all of this is gone. It's very little different from just opening a random Git repo, basically foreign code to me.

There are tasks that just need to be done, and then there are tasks one outta think about.

I've been wondering for a while now: What would be the results if we had multiple LLMs run the same query and then use statistical analysis?

Best of N is a very common technique already.

For me the main issue with the Steam Deck and many other such devices is the battery life. I can play Nintendo DS for multiple days, whereas I have to charge every day or just keep the Steam Deck plugged into the charger.

I wouldn't say I'm enslaved, would be unfair.

That being said, I live in a room rented to me by the company that hires me, I work for a customer service center, so it's not a construction situation. The reason the company rents us rooms is because we're not paid enough to afford normal rent.

All this means that if there's ever a ramp down, I'd be immediately jobless and homeless, which does not feel good at all...

If you added on top being in a foreign country and needing your employer for your visa, I think you'd basically have the same situation as the article?

So that's a little precarious. I hope you have some savings built up.

I'm putting all of my money into Quanloop (something like a P2P lending thingy) in hopes of growing the interest income to at least 1000€ per month.

Theoretically I should be able to reach that point in about 7 years, with the APY of ~15.6%, my goal is 80,000€.

How quickly things change... Today as I was riding to work, I got hit by a car and then to add icing on the cake, the company told me that they're not going to extend my contract...

I've got about three weeks to find an apartment or at least a room and a whole new job...

A situation like you describe is ripe for abuse. H1Bs here deal with similar precariousness, though not on the level of what it sounds like you're dealing with. I hope your situation improves and you gain some security.

> The reason the company rents us rooms is because we're not paid enough to afford normal rent.

So they're paying you in the form of subsidized housing that is tied to work, instead of paying more. Yeah this should be illegal.

And if there's a fire? Jobless, homeless, and without papers. You should give your passport and all other important papers to your employer for safekeeping.

I feel like saying that there's a paid pro mode is a bit disingenuous.

You can buy a licence to support the app and the development, but the feature set is identical if you pay or not.

A big difference.

For me it's Grayjay, NewPipe doesn't want to load videos whenever I try it, but Grayjay has been the most reliable out of any alternatives that I've tried.

Baseless accusations, because what bothers night people in the morning, bothers morning people in the night.

The only real difference is how much you care about how your actions impact the environment and people around you.

I wake up early, because I work early, I don't make any sound, my flatmate (I rent a room from the company) works late and always stays up late, they make so much noise that they keep waking me up to the point that I had to report them to the company.

It doesn't matter if you're a night or a morning person, what matters is, are you considerate or not.

Considerate people will be considerate at any time of the day, but there are a lot more checks and balances to keep the inconsiderate at bay at night (e.g. noise bylaws). They soon learn that they have to become considerate. Conversely, anything goes for the inconsiderate morning crowd.

> Microsoft isn’t a mute participant in the corporate device market.

This is 100% on point! For the past three years all of my in-office work was done on a ChromeBox running ChromeOS, I work in a contact center, but my specific project does not focus on customers but other stuff.

At first I thought they did this because Chrome-anything is usually cheap, but the devices they give us are all around or above $1000, so now I think we use them only because the client wants us to use them, since on some other projects they do use Windows, but with this client we have A LOT of project and A LOT of work, so it's not like we're the exception.

I think with the advent of SteamOS, ChromeOS and Android merging, we could legit see a serious move away from Windows, even in corporate worlds, but who knows, my vision could just be clouded, I'm not a genius or some smart person like a bunch of people here on HN, I work for basically a minimum salary (Portugal), live in a room, that the company that hires me, rents to me, and read HN mostly for entertainment.

I wish even today, exploitation of the poor was not normal and acceptable.

Aaa, I misread the title and thought that it was powered by the radio waves, regardless still very cool!
