No you don’t. Once you get to memory you no longer have any tests that do anything and it’s impossible to actually progress.


The SR latch logic is also incorrect. Cross-coupled NORs had to be configured illogically to actually pass the tests and output correctly.

Also, the later puzzles (starting with memory) don't have any real tests. Seems like it just doesn't really exist past that point.


What configuration did you use to pass the test? I guess I couldn't think illogically enough.

I removed one of the cross coupled outputs (only one NOR was connected to the other, not both outputs cross coupled) and magically it worked. Didn’t make any sense from a logic perspective though.

Yes, you might, but you can also have normal multi-use rooms. It's not like being rich somehow makes a 'standard' living room configuration with TV and couch gauche. The likely main difference is the couch is going to be way bigger and the TV is probably 100" inches.

Theater/cinema rooms are a very different experience (lights off, dedicated to watching the thing) compared to a standard lights on TV experience. Two different purposes.


Why? Standard server grade PSUs are 80 Plus Platinum, exceeding 95% efficiency. The whole server is designed around 12V, especially for older gear, and replacing it with components that are 48V would be wildly expensive relative to the efficiency benefits.

It's worse. Non-stick PTFE is basically always the best. All these alternative "non-stick" coatings want you to use a little bit of oil. PTFE needs 0 oil to work.

Not really useful. Others have made titanium coated stuff, and it's not really significantly better for non-stick than just a nitrated steel pan.

They claim to have added small dimples that trap the oil and make it less sticky

Others have done it even further, and done titanium with the hex-clad style pattern, and it just doesn't work well.

48kW across all circuits. The 200 amp rating is at 240V for US electrics.

You’re limited to 24kW per leg if you ran everything only on 120V, but any really large server is going to be running off 240V anyways.

That's definitely a consideration, and I'm not watching 72GB 3-hour length 4K movies remotely if the far end's internet connection is insufficient. But the times that I find myself in such a place are fairly uncommon these days. If I were spending a lot of time in places where Internet service was considerably worse than where I travel now, I would probably just download the 1080p, HEVC/x265, 2.2GB total file size version of a movie and call that "ehh, good enough".

USB-C connectors from well-known brands start at less than $0.20, USB-B ones are $0.30. Same story for the low-end: C can be found for as little as $0.011, B starts at $0.05. Resistors are basically free - about a cent a piece if you splurge, more like $0.0007 if you really push it.

With the EU practically mandating USB-C on all portable electronics, the market is rapidly shifting towards it being the default for all 5V-powered gear: either you ship a cable/brick with it, or you give it USB-C. Even with a premium connector it is quite obvious which option is cheaper, so even bargain-bin gear is incentivized to adopt USB-C, which in turn pushes the connector manufacturers to develop dirt-cheap USB-C options.

USB 2.0 is a superset of 1.1 spec and considered inclusive of 1.1 speeds. I said 2.0 speeds specifically because Type C does not even recognize “USB 1.1” as a speed, and when you go to 3.0+ you start to put other constraints on routing and most importantly requirements on the cable (it needs to be emarked if it supports super speed).

The rest of your comment, totally agree. Especially with EU mandating power be USB-C if possible, which this easily could be.


If you consume power over USB-C, 2 resistor are enough.

But for providing power over USB-C, you generally need a dedicated IC to handle VBUS switching. It wasn't worth it.

Also, once you ship a consumer product with a USB port on it, you'll realize a lot of people really don't understand how USB works, and USB-C doubly so. Square holes for square pegs goes a long way.


Sure, but your power input should be a USB-C. No reason to use the clunky USB-B for that. Labeling as Power In and leaving a regular USB A for the output seems fine to me. Given that most older keyboards use USB-B for their input, A is a perfectly fine solution and solves the “input vs output”.

OP mentioned in another comment that a decent chunk of users is elderly, and C-to-B cables (albeit rare) do exist, so confusion isn't impossible.

I personally really don't like it in a world where everyone has USB-C power bricks readily available and USB-B cables are dying out, but considering the user base it is not an entirely unreasonable design decision - for now.


These are the hardest cuts to make in design, being so incremental, but they add up!

I’m glad that worked for you. That doesn’t work for everyone, and there’s plenty of people with completely healthy weights who eat healthy as well who just have outrageous cholesterol. Any medical interventions that fix genetic conditions seem like a win for me. Even fixing lifestyle issues medically (eg GLP-1s) seem like a win for me.
