4-week battery life, if you don't go outside. Solar charges the watch relatively slow (e.g. it takes 3 hours of just sitting under the sun to charge a day), but if you get out frequently it just pushes the battery day just a little further. Funny experience, when I charged it the first time and got outside in the sun, it showed infinity days battery remaining :D
I also appreciate that most of the data is available right there on the watch (although sometime buried). And I even used the torch a couple of times!
The torch is super underrated. I use it regularly, like when getting out of bed in the middle of the night. The best torch is the one you always have on you.
Unfortunately I think in the general consciousness people treat Garmins as “legacy” devices even as their systems are in some ways superior to the flashy upstarts and newcomers.
I came here to say this. I had abandoned smartwatches entirely and gone back to mechanical watches because smartwatches just did too much and the small utility I got from them (i.e. health) came with the tradeoff that they had to be charged every couple of days. I ended up trying the Garmin Instinct and it has been exactly what I was looking for. I turn off all notifications and just use it for the data it gives me and for the fitness tracking.
That's exactly how I use it. Apart from the calendar and calls, I keep all notifications off. For me, this is the perfect smartwatch. Colour displays and touch screens don't interest me.
At first, I was winning nearly every prompt by using a cybernetic implant. After a couple of rounds, the cybernetic implant began failing, or the procedure to get it would have side effects. Seems like there's definitely some randomness to survival?
The difference with Kagi is it lets me completely block Quora from my search results. Quora has been garbage for years, even before they started using AI answers.
Yep, just this week I saw a Quora result in Kagi. Clicked it and remembered how useless the website was. My CPU gave an audible scream from inside its aluminum case from the spike in client-side tracking and JS the website has. Firefox noticeably slowed.
So I backed out back to Kagi and told it to never subject my eyes or my computer's safety through the experience ever again.
They exclude pretty much every industrial metal band because industrial metal is ostensibly not metal enough.
No Rob Zombie. No Rammstein.
Meanwhile, they added psychedelic rock band King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard and their whole discography (now up to 24 albums) solely because their 15th album was metal.
I love King Gizz, but Metal Archives are disappointingly inconsistent.
I dunno. There's a lot of stuff I would put on EM that they have decided not to allow, but I think Rob Zombie and Rammstein very clearly fall into the 'not metal' camp. I like both, but neither of them sound anything like metal to me, or to anyone I know that listens to metal in significant quantities.
It's not like industrial is an instant deny, either - Fear Factory, Blut Aus Nord, Strapping Young Lad, etc etc etc are included.
As for King Gizz, their rules are quite clear that one predominantly metal album is enough for inclusion.
That's weird, I don't know anyone who wouldn't call Rammstein and Rob Zombie metal. Are they really not considered metal in some circles?
Just curious, if they don't sound anything like metal to you, what kind of metal do you like to listen to? I mostly listen to doom metal, plus a little bit of death metal, industrial metal, and black metal.

Amazon Prime is definitely hard to cancel, but I had a pleasant customer support experience at least.
A few years ago I came to realise I had left my monthly Prime subscription active for a whole year when I thought I had cancelled it.
Once I realised, I cancelled it and asked Amazon support if I could possibly get a refund; they granted it the next day after confirming I hadn't bought anything or watched Prime Video in that time.
I'm very careful to make sure I cancel Prime when I'm done with it now. It bothers me that they don't send an email receipt or anything every time you're billed.
