Is it “your” agent if the model is being run by a mega corporation?

(1) You may have instructed the model to be naughty (2) The corp may have a “misaligned” agent acting on its own volition

So it seems the devil’s in the details

Yeah, if I rent a murderbot and tell it to murder, then I'm responsible.

If I rent a cleaning bot that is actually a lightly reprogrammed murderbot, and it "cleans" the mailman to death, that's not my fault.

If it reduces inflammation and causes weight loss, I find it impossible to believe you can just stop and not get rebound on both.

Which to me just sounds like every other addictive drug. Paradise while you’re high, and eventually you pay for it.

Or continue to take it.

Just ask it to do it. You can ask it to do a line reduction cleanup pass before each commit. I don’t know why they default to adding complexity because they are capable of doing it better just by asking.

Just how much ketchup are you eating?

Both versions of America exist. It’s a massive country with very different social environments throughout. Even driving 15 minutes from one side of a city to another can completely change the vibe from basically heaven to hell.

And for the ultimate twist: the "both version" thing works for every single country! Damn! Nobody saw that coming!

“Communism is a good political theory, it’s just hard to prevent people from abusing it.”

“Letting everyone out of prison is a good social strategy, it’s just hard to prevent people from abusing it.”

“Making all shops operate on the honor system is a good business strategy, it’s just hard to prevent people from abusing it.”

These are really bad examples! Actually you listed 3 things with no underlying value. A more proper example would be a knife, it is a very useful tool and can also be abused. Honestly I would rather live with the risk than in a world without knives. But to each his own.

Does it actually yield results better than just sending it to 5.6 Pro?

Our country is better than yours because of the constitution

Proud American here, I don't think your comment is particularly helpful. Better can be very subjective and a country is not going to better in every single aspect; the other country will certainly have some aspects where they will be "better".

> Our country is better than yours because of the constitution

Well, thank you twice:

* first for confirming my criticism that Americans venerate their constitution blindly

* second for staying in your country and not coming to mine

I’ve heard people give that as a reason for wanting a new doctor.

I think its unfortunate people wear headphones while walking/running/biking. If you don’t, that’s however many minutes or hours of nothing but daydreaming (and hearing nature).

I've needed to take anc earbuds with me while out now, not to listen to music but just to tone down the noise pollution a bit. You can barely hear nature anyway over all the cars, trucks, lawnmowers, leafblowers, airplanes, and what I think are warehouses. It's been getting worse in recent years and the only way to have a chance at daydreaming is to lower it a bit.

Sadly around here it takes quite a lot of driving to get to anywhere that nature sounds predominate. Between the highways/airports/lawncare it is mostly noise pollution, and I generally find that doesn't work as well for daydreaming.

I often just wear noise cancelling headphones without any music on

I find it impossible to daydream while focused on traffic.

I read my black on white eink reader on walks and occasionally run into poles and things in the sidewalk. Mostly I look up when crossing a street. When I was a kid I would walk slowly around with a Sci Fi book and read it. Never been hit by a car but every now and then get scared by one I didn’t notice. But I can’t read intense books too much - I alternate hard books and pulpy fun reads.
